Saint John NB: The Saint John Sea Dogs have reportedly signed 2008 born forward Cameron Chartrand. Sportsnet analyst Jeff Marek posted on X today breaking the news. Cameron was the team's 19th overall pick in the 2024 QMJHL Draft this past June.
Back in May, Cameron was ranked 5th on the QMJHL central scouting list, but fell back to 19th overall due to concerns with his intentions on playing in the NCAA. He has spent the majority of his 2024-2025 season with the Bishop Kearney Selects 16U AAA team, posting 42 points in 48 games played as the captain of that team. He has also played in two USHL games this season with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.
Cameron was a member of Team Canada at the World U17s, where he scored two points in four games. He is a prospect for the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.
Cameron made it clear that he wanted to play in the NCAA, taking the route through his 16U team in the United States and some time in the USHL. In August, he committed to Boston College for the 2027-2028 season, and still plans on attending.
This is exciting news for Sea Dogs fans, as hopefully he can be a solid piece to a growing team next season.
