Wildcats Clinch Maritimes Division Title, 6th Division Title In Franchise History


The first piece of hardware for the Wildcats 2024-2025 campaign has been won and its only the beginning. 

The Cats improve to a 42-9-2-0 record with a 6-0 win over the Eagles at the Centre 200 friday night.

Cats goaltender Rudy Guimond coming up huge with his second career QMJHL shutout, with a perfect 20 save performance. 

Simon Binkley scored his first QMJHL goal 3:50 into the first period. Simon Mullen kept the party going at 11:04 in the 1st with his third of the year. Vidicek notched his 31st of the season, as well as Pecarcik, Collard and Sumpf hopping on board the scoring train. 

This game however is pretty historical for the franchise.

This game clinched their spot as Maritime Division Champions, a feat only achieved 5 other times throughout the teams 29 season history. The last time the Cats did this was in the 2019-2020 campaign, which we all know the unfortunate ending of that season.

There is certainly a buzz in the city revolving this team, which makes these few weeks of regular season very exciting, as the highly inticipated playoffs are just around the corner.

Photo: Tri-City Tide Eventbrite   Pro basketball is back! The first taste of the Tri-City Tide takes place tonight as the team is hosting an intrasquad matchup at Crandall University. All proceeds from the event go to support the Crandall University Athletics program.  The Tide are one of this years expansion teams for the TBL, joining the league along with the Halifax Hoopers. The league now has 38 teams throughout Canada and the United States, with some teams as far away as Texas and California.  It's been 2 years since the last attempt at bringing pro basketball back to the Hub City. The last attempt being the Moncton Motion in the Eastern Canada Basketball League. The team and league folded after only half the season due to problems within the league. NBIAA Hockey North-East Regionals Preview

      Moncton NB: Tonight is the start of the NBIAA Boys Hockey North-East Regionals. In Moncton, we've got some good hockey on our hands. We will preview some of the playoff matchups we will see this week.      Starting off with AAA regionals, we have the ESN Rebelles from Bathurst taking on the Mathieu-Martin Matadors from Dieppe. These two teams have had very strong seasons and have put on a show in their respective districts. For ESN, they ended the season with a 12-6-0-0 record. They are lead by Jacob Brideau who has 25 points in 18 games. For Mathieu Martin, they cap the season off with a 13-7-1-0 record. Caleb LeBlanc leads the team in points with 31 in 20 games. In league playoffs, the Matadors defeated L-J-R in 5 games. Alexis Gagnon played very well in the league playoffs with six points in 5 games.
